What are some ways to find love if i live in a secluded area? i'm talking anything short of the internet....

i'm still a little wary of all that internet business (plus i also dont' want to be seen as desperate... i have a blog maybe i could use that but anyway what do you think? i live upstate and its hard to meet people especially from my country (but it's hard to meet people my age period)
