Help with report... Demeter in the Odyssey?

I was igned to do a paper on Demeter and her connection to the Odyssey, but she's NOT IN THERE. Only Persephone is. The bulk of the paper is supposed to be about her connection in the Odyssey. I was thinking about writing about how is the only reason Persephone is in the Underworld to send the women to Odysseus is because Demeter gave her permission but I'm not sure. Any ideas?
